PKS (Palm Kernel Shell) rotary screening is a mechanical process utilized in the palm oil industry to effectively separate palm kernel shells from other materials. Palm kernel shells are the hard outer shells of palm nuts and have various applications, such as biomass fuel or raw material in industries like energy, construction, and agriculture.

The PKS rotary screening process involves the use of a rotary screen or trommel screen, which consists of a cylindrical drum with perforated plates or mesh screens. The drum is set in motion, typically by an electric motor, and materials are fed into one end of the drum.

As the drum rotates, the materials inside undergo segregation based on their size and shape. The smaller particles, including dust and fines, easily pass through the perforated plates or mesh screens and are collected separately. Meanwhile, the larger palm kernel shells continue their movement along the length of the drum until they reach the discharge end.

The perforated plates or mesh screens of the rotary screen are carefully selected to ensure that the palm kernel shells are retained while allowing smaller particles to pass through. This separation process ensures that the final product predominantly consists of palm kernel shells, which can then be further processed or utilized in various industries.

PKS rotary screening offers several advantages in the palm oil industry. It allows for the efficient separation of palm kernel shells from other materials, ensuring a high-quality product with minimal contamination. Additionally, this process helps to reduce waste and maximize the utilization of palm kernel shells, which are valuable resources. The rotary screening system can be integrated into existing production lines and can be automated for increased efficiency and productivity.
